Structure fire in Southeast Colorado Springs displaces family of eight

The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 3638 Garland Court early Monday morning. That’s by the intersection of Academy Boulevard and Pikes Peak Avenue.

The fire started in a camper-trailer and did damage to the neighboring building. Everyone inside both structures evacuated safely.

The fire has been put out, but fire crews are still at the scene investigating the cause.

Eight occupants will be displaced from the fire. The Colorado Springs Fire Department is working with the Red Cross to assist the displaced residents with housing and other needs. The family also set up a GoFundMe page for anyone wanting to donate.
