Vitaminwater offering to pay someone $100K to ditch their smartphone for 1 year

Think you have what it takes to go a whole year without a smartphone?

Vitaminwater has set up a challenge to give a $100,000 reward to someone who agrees to go scroll-free for an entire year.

According to ABC7, the person chosen may not use or touch any smartphone for 365 consecutive days, tablets are forbidden as well.

The company will provide the contestant with a 1996-era cellphone that can be used during the contest.

If you can’t go without a smartphone for the entire year but are able to complete the task for six months, you can win $10,000.

How will Vitaminwater know you’re not cheating? The company will conduct a lie-detector test at the end of the year.

To enter the contest, you must create a tweet or Instagram post explaining how you would use your year if you took a break from your smartphone. You must publish your posts before Jan. 8, 2019 and use the hashtags #nophoneforayear and #contest in the post.

Each entrant may submit up to four submissions during the contest period.
