Man arrested for 17-store robbery spree in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs police had been investigating a string of robberies in the east and northeast sides of town within the past few months, and they say one person was connected to all 17 of them.
CSPD says the robbery spree mostly targeted fast food restaurants and convenience stores — it started on Sept. 21 and ended on Dec. 4. During two of those robberies, the suspect fired a handgun. We reported on several of those robberies throughout the past few months.
Monday, detectives and the department’s Tactical Enforcement Unit took Cody Crocker, 34, into custody. He was charged with 16 counts of aggravated robbery, one count of attempted aggravated robbery, and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
Another person, 28-year-old Damien Frencl, was with Crocker and was connected to four of the robberies, according to police. Frencl was charged for those and for possession of a schedule-II narcotic.
Crocker is accused of robbing the following locations. (Scroll down for a map)
