Random acts of kindness reach Colorado Springs
The holiday spirit is in the air around Colorado Springs and random acts of kindness are affecting people all over the area.
For the Giles family, Christmas came months early. Tincey Giles explained to KRDO that two patients her daughter cared for at a nursing home have paid for her daughter, Tierra to further her education.
The two patients passed away this summer but made sure to tell their families, they wanted to support Giles by paying off her student loans, future tuition, and living expenses so she could get her nursing degree without having to worry about work.
Mrs. Giles said, “Oh I could just squeeze them. I wish I could meet them. I’ll meet them one day.”
On the other side of town, a woman in Falcon is looking for a man who paid for her families Christmas in 2017.
Jessica Amidon was on a Southwest Flight with her two kids last winter when a man who sat in their aisle kept her daughter entertained and then quietly slipped a gift into her pocket.
Amidon said, “I put my jacket on and put my hand in my pocket and found $500 and he was gone.”
She never got his name and has never been able to track him down. A Facebook post on Southwest Airlines’ page didn’t gain any traction but Amidon is still hopeful she’ll find him.
She said, “it’s nice to know that there are still people out there who do that.”
At a time where everyone is in a rush, sometimes stopping to help is enough.
