Denver radio station stops playing ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside,’ then brings it back

The controversy may continue nationally over the Christmastime song “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” but after a Denver radio station pulled the tune and polled its listeners, the song won out in the end.

KOSI 101.1 FM got feedback from listeners over the weekend because of some media outlets across the U.S. questioning the song’s lyrics, which might suggest an unwanted encounter between a woman and a man.

Monday, KOSI took the song off its Christmas playlist rotation and conducted an online poll to get listeners’ positions on the song.

“Respondents voted 95 percent in favor of us keeping the song,” KOSI Program Director Jim Lawson said. “While we are sensitive to those who may be upset by some of the lyrics, the majority of our listeners have expressed their interpretation of the song to be non-offensive.”

We’re guessing this won’t silence the debate.
