Car rams into fire truck in northeast Colorado Springs, leaves the scene

The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a medical call that involved a possible overdose of narcotics Sunday night.

Colorado Springs police assisted in the call on 5500 Powers Center Point. It was reported that there was a vehicle parked on the side of a business with two occupants inside possibly overdosing on narcotics.

When CSFD arrived on the scene they observed one of the occupants had a gun and immediately backed away from the vehicle. Firefighters report that they were never menaced with the gun.

Soon after, the driver put the vehicle into reverse and rammed into the fire truck multiple times to escape.

The vehicle then left the scene traveling west on Research Blvd. No CSFD officers were injured and the fire truck sustained minor damage and remained in service.
