Roads in downtown Colorado Springs to close for Festival of Lights Parade

The 34th annual Festival of Lights Parade will be taking place on Saturday, Dec. 1, starting at 5:50 p.m. the parade will move south on Tejon St., from St. Vrain St. to Vermijo Ave.

The event is free, open to the public and tends to draw a large crowd.

If you plan on going to the event or plan on traveling around downtown Springs on Saturday here are the temporary closures that will be put in place as posted by the City of Colorado Springs:

2-8 p.m.

Pikes Peak Avenue, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue

3-8 p.m.

Tejon Street, from Cache la Poudre Street to Boulder Street Dale Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Monument Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Willamette Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue St. Vrain Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue

4-8:30 p.m.

Bijou Street, from Cascade to Tejon Street

5-8:30 p.m.

ejon Street, from Boulder Street to Cimarron Street Boulder Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Platte Avenue, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Bijou Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Kiowa Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Pikes Peak Avenue, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Colorado Avenue, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Vermijo, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue Costilla Street, from Cascade Avenue to Nevada Avenue

Parking

Do not park at the hooded parking meters during the parade because your car will get towed.

Parking at metered parking is free after 6 p.m.

Parking at all three city parking garages is free every weekend during the holidays from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

With the large crowds, attendees are encouraged to get to the event early.
