Girlfriend of murdered Pueblo woman pleads guilty in exchange for lesser sentence

UPDATE: The Pueblo woman accused of shooting and killing her ex-girlfriend in October 2017 pled guilty to second-degree murder charges Friday.

Ramona Benevidez, 27, had her first-degree murder charges dropped to second-degree charges in exchange for pleading guilty to shooting her 28-year-old ex-girlfriend, Danielle Calvert.

According to the plea deal, Benevidez will serve a minimum sentence of 35 years and a maximum sentence of 48 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Also in the deal, Benevidez must pay a restitution. She will be sentenced at the next hearing on February 1st.

The suspect in the death of Danielle Calvert in Pueblo is now in custody.

The Pueblo Police Department confirms Ramona Benevidez turned herself in this morning.

She is currently being held in the Pueblo County Jail on first-degree murder charges.

Authorities are looking for a 26-year-old woman who is a suspect in the murder of Danielle Calvert.

Ramona Benevidez, the girlfriend of Calvert, is listed as wanted for homicide on the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office website.

Calvert’s body was found in the 1300 block of Van Buren Street on Tuesday.

She died from a single gunshot wound.
