Former Westminster officer gets 90 days for forcing woman into sex acts

A former police officer in suburban Denver has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for forcing a woman to engage in sex acts as he took her home from a hospital.

The Denver Post reports 41-year-old Curtis Arganbright, who worked for the Westminster Police Department, was sentenced Thursday and must register as a sex offender.

Prosecutors say that on Aug. 24, 2017, he was on duty and driving a woman who had been released from St. Anthony North Health Campus in Westminster when he stopped at about 1:30 a.m.

The 36-year-old victim told investigators that Arganbright assaulted her while she was handcuffed. According to 9News in Denver, Arganbright forced her into intercourse on the front bumper of his police car.

An affidavit says Arganbright gave the victim his business card and said to “call him sometime.”

Arganbright pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual contact and official misconduct.

The victim’s mother told the judge during Arganbright’s sentencing that her daughter was brutally raped and has suffered extreme PTSD following the assault.
