Cello stolen from Colorado Springs veteran’s autistic son
Someone stole a cello from an autistic 11-year-old boy and the Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center is hoping the community can help him make music again.
Mt. Carmel shared the story of Brendon Bradley, who is on the autism spectrum. According to his mother, they attended a Back to School music night two years ago, and when Brendon sat in front of a cello, he “settled in front of that instrument like it was made for him.”
So Brendon’s dad, a Navy and National Guard veteran, bought him his own cello last Christmas, and his mother said she had “never seen a bigger smile on Brendon’s face.”
But on Nov. 26, the family walked out to their car to find the cello stolen, and Brendon was left devastated. Police say it’s unlikely the cello will be recovered unless the thief tries to sell it at a pawn shop.
The family is still paying off that cello and can’t afford to buy a new one, so they turned to a GoFundMe account with the goal of buying a new one. You can find the fundraiser HERE.
