Roofing companies offer to help victims of state-wide contracting scam

A KRDO investigation is getting results. Victims of a state-wide contracting scam are getting some of their money back after several companies have come forward offering their services to help.

This all stems from a series that we first broke earlier this month.

Monument contractor, Daniel Nail, is accused of defrauding more than a dozen people out of tens of thousands of dollars.

Monday, we spoke with criminal defense attorney Jeremy Loew with tips on what you can do if you get stuck in a similar situation.

Nail was in court Tuesday after posting bond following an arrest for drug and weapon charges.

Since all of this coverage, three different roofing companies have come forward offering to help these victims.

“We’d like to go ahead and take care of that for you, all for free,” said Anna Pingleton.

Tears of joy came running down Mary DePace’s face, who lost $20,000 after paying out two different insurance claims following several hail storms.

“Oh my gosh, wow, thank you so much.. thank you,” said DePace, who would’ve been paying $14,000 out of pocket for her repairs.

KRDO also spread the word to Brittany King, a disabled woman who lost $13,000.

“That’s amazing, I’m at a loss of words,” said King.

A sweet ending to the story as several other victims will soon be getting calls with a generous offer for help.
