Christopher Watts relocated to Denver facility for physical, mental evaluation
According to the Department of Correction’s website, the Frederick man accused of killing his wife and two children, Christopher Watts, has been transferred to a new facility, pending a mental evaluation.
As of Monday, Watts is now at the Denver Reception and Diagnostic Center temporarily. According to the website, the facility “is an intake and classification facility. Offenders at this facility will not be housed there permanently, the facility will process the inmate into the department of corrections system by being physically and mental evaluated. It is at this point that the staff will determine what programs the inmate may benefit from. An educational and skills testing will take place, which will further classify the offenders needs. From all these factors the staff will determine which facility is best to house the inmate at permanently.”
This facility is described to have up to 575 inmates that are at all levels of custody because they have not yet been classified. They further look into the inmates, offering them things like a basic education, GED, anger management, substance abuse, and parenting courses to name a few.
This is a developing story. An official time stamp on how long Watts will be here has not been released. We will continue to keep you updated as more information becomes available.
