New 2,000 page report sheds light on Christopher Watts investigation

Just days after Christopher Watts was sentenced for murdering his wife, two kids and unborn child, a new report consisting of nearly 2,000 pages shows what led police to believe he was the murderer.

Pictures on Facebook painted the Wattses as a happy family. Watts’ wife, Shanann, was very active on social media showing her successful career as a salesperson. In the report, it was revealed that not all smiles on social media portrayed what was going on at home.

Text messages between Shanann and a friend show she was worried about her marriage and their baby on the way.

“Chris told me last night he’s scared to death about this third baby. And he’s happy with just Bella and Celeste and doesn’t want another baby,” she said.

The message was sent just six days before she and her two daughters were reported missing by Christopher. A text message with Watts shows his concern for their whereabouts. He told a friend, “She went to a friends house with the kids. She won’t tell me where though.”

Over the next few days, police conducted dozens of interviews with neighbors, family friends and anyone who may have come into contact with the Watts family.

It wasn’t until police conducted a lie detector test that Watts’ secret was out. After a long interview, the operator told Watts she knew he wasn’t being truthful.

After sitting with his father, Watts admitted to killing his wife after he claims she suffocated their kids and then directed law enforcement to where he dumped their bodies. Later, he would admit to killing all three of them and the unborn child.

Pictures in the report show a diagram where evidence like a sheet, and a piece of lawn rake was found near the oil barrels that contained the bodies of Celeste and Bella.

Watts was sentenced to three consecutive life-terms on Monday after he pled guilty to murder in October.
