What you need to know before flying out of Colorado Springs for the holiday

As people are gearing up to take to the skies, a record 30.6 million passengers will be traveling on U.S. Airlines this Thanksgiving, with the busiest flying day expected to be Sunday. That’s why passengers in Colorado Springs are flying out Tuesday and avoiding the next four days.

If you are a last-minute flyer, Colorado Springs Airport has some things they want you to know before you walk through their doors.

“We recommend that you arrive early, about an hour and a half prior to departure. Be sure to download your flyCOS coupon to get your parking pass and to check the TSA guidelines,” said COS Communications Manager Aidan Ryan.

To help with some of the expenses, COS is offering 50 percent off long-term parking.

“We want to thank those who support the community and our local airport. and we are able to give back on our 50 percent parking,” said Ryan.

If you’re still looking to buy a ticket, flying around 10 a.m. Thanksgiving morning was your cheapest option as of Tuesday morning.
