Another controlled burn puts out smoke over Pikes Peak

The U.S. Forest Service is again burning slash piles on the north slope of Pikes Peak Friday, causing smoke that could be seen from Colorado Springs.

No other wildfires are currently known to be burning in El Paso or Teller counties.

#PikesPeakRD crews will be burning slash piles on the N slope of Pikes Peak today. This is the same location as Wednesday where Colorado Springs residents saw smoke. Today’s activity will be located S of Pikes Peak highway and W of Cascade. Smoke will be visible in the area.

The U.S. Forest Service is burning slash piles on the north slope of Pikes Peak Wednesday, causing a plume of smoke that could be seen for miles from Colorado Springs.

There’s nothing to be alarmed about, the Colorado Springs Fire Department says to not call 911 if you spot that fire. No other fires are currently known to be burning in El Paso or Teller counties.

Crews will be burning slash piles on the N slope of Pikes Peak today. The location is a little different from previous days. Today’s slash pile burns will be located south of Pikes Peak highway and west of Cascade. Smoke will be visible in the area. #PikesPeakRD
