“It’s horrific”: Christopher Watts’ mistress speaks for the first time as sentencing draws closer

The woman who claims to have started dating Christopher Watts in July, speaks out as his sentencing in the murders of his wife and two daughters edges closer.

According to our media partners at Denver 7, Nichol Kessinger said she originally thought Watts appeared to be a soft-spoken man and a thoughtful father who was going through a divorce.

Kessinger says it wasn’t until Watts’ 15-weeks pregnant wife, Shanann, and two daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, went missing in August that she realized he had been lying to her for their entire two-month relationship.

According to the Denver 7 article, Kessinger never doubted that he killed his family members, but was shocked by his arrest.

“I don’t think there is a logical explanation for what he did,” Kessinger told The Denver Post Thursday. “It’s a senseless act, and it’s horrific.”

Watts’ mistress has participated in a number of police interviews regarding the case and has gone into great detail behind their relationship following up to the murders.
