Police identify victim in southwest Colorado Springs homicide

The man found dead by Fountain Creek in southwest Colorado Springs last week was identified Wednesday, but police need the public’s help with the investigation.

Officers were called to the Mt. Washington Apartment complex at 115 Metzler Place Friday morning and found the man dead with trauma on his body.

Wednesday, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Luis Molina, AKA “Lucky.” It’s not clear if the trauma is what caused Molina’s death.

Police are asking for information from anyone who may know about the circumstances surrounding Molina’s death. If you have any tips, call 719-444-7000 or 719-634-STOP if you’d like to remain anonymous.

Molina’s death is the 29th homicide in the city so far this year.
