Ballots in El Paso County being counted ahead of Tuesday’s midterm election

There is just one more day until the midterm election and all of those ballots being sent in will end up in one place.

Whether you’ve already sent in your ballot or are waiting until last minute, it will be counted at the Citizen’s Service Center at 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road.

If a vote on a ballot comes in and the choice someone made isn’t clear, it’s sent to adjudication process where again, two people from both parties can review the voter’s choice.

As of Tuesday morning there had been more than 170,000 votes, according to El Paso County Clerk & Recorder Chuck Broerman.

He says 40,000 of those ballots are from Democrats and 80,000 of them are from Republicans, with the difference being unaffiliated.

As of right now, El Paso County is reporting there has been an increase in the number of women voting in this midterm election.

This process has already been tested to make sure everything goes right Tuesday.
