Pueblo West woman arrested for hit-and-run on Halloween

A woman is in custody after deputies say she hit a 15-year-old girl with her car and leaving the scene on Halloween night.

The Pueblo County Sheriff Office says that 29-year-old Kaitlin Golden hit a teenage girl who was trick or treating on Halloween leaving her with serious injuries. The teen was air-lifted to a Colorado Springs hospital due to her injuries.

With help from the public, deputies were led to the suspect’s home in the 100 block of East Cellini Drive, not far from where the hit-and-run happened. They say a car matching the description of the one in the incident was at the residence. The report says the car did have damage done to the front end of it.

When they knocked on the door, Golden answered and said she recently hit a deer in Castle Rock and that’s why the car was damaged. However, deputies say there was no visible evidence to support her claim of hitting an animal.

The Sheriff’s Office seized the car and executed a search warrant where they found physical evidence that led them to believe the car and Golden was involved. She was arrested and booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

The Sheriff’s office says alcohol may have been a factor in the hit-and-run.
