Crisp week ahead – 11/03/18

Tonight: What a wacky weather day in southern Colorado! We had times of gusty winds and blowing snow, and other moments of blue skies and puffy cumulus clouds! Overnight, skies should initially be mostly clear. As a result, radiational cooling will be quite effective. With temperatures potentially dropping to the dewpoint temperatures, there could be patches of fog that develop early Sunday. Lows will drop to the 20s for most areas. Winds and isolated showers should be winding down at or shortly after midnight. A reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends 2 a.m. Sunday! That means we get an extra hour of sleep. Smart phones adjust automatically of course, but make sure to set your other clocks back before bed!

Tomorrow: Some areas could have low clouds Sunday morning! However, clearing skies are expected by 9 a.m. If you’re out to church, a hike or brunch, make sure to load on the layers. Into the afternoon and evening, another weak system will be impacting the state. This will spread clouds across the area and dump additional snow over the mountains (five to ten additional inches are possible over the central and northern mountains!). The lower elevations should stay primarily dry although we can’t rule out an isolated shower.

Extended: Sunday night into Monday morning, it could be very gusty! We’ll have to track that. Northerly winds will keep things cool into the start of your work week. Temperatures throughout the rest of your seven day forecast also appear to stay below-average by about ten or more degrees. Wednesday night into Thursday offers our following chance for noticeably cooler weather with the possibility for snow. There’s still uncertainty regarding how much snow could accumulate and how cold it will get, but we should hopefully gain more clarity in the coming days.
