Teen dies after crashing car into fence outside of Pueblo home
A 19-year-old man died early Friday morning after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a fence outside a home near the lower east side of Pueblo.
Diego Shai Romero was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala when he lost control near the intersection of Ogden Street and east 4th Street. Romero crashed into the fence of a home and was declared deceased on the scene.
Romero was carrying 21-year-old Brian Nicholas Garcia. Garcia was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries but is expected to survive.
Speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Romero was driving on a suspended drivers license and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
This is the fourteenth traffic fatality in 2018 for the City of Pueblo.
