Man threatens Uber driver in Colorado Springs, says he hates “all brown people”
A man threatened an Uber driver early Friday morning near downtown Colorado Springs, saying he “hated all brown people” and then chased the driver as he ran away.
The driver was a 20-year-old man of Middle Eastern descent who picked up 29-year-old Sean Scappaticci before 4:00 a.m. on Friday. The driver said Scappaticci further claimed that he was a former Army Ranger and had killed many of the victim’s families overseas.
The driver said he feared for his life and stopped in the 200 block of south 8th Street before running from his vehicle. Scappaticci then chased the victim stating that he was going to beat him up.
Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the disturbance and detained Scappaticci as he continued to make statements about wanting to kill “all brown” people.
Scappaticci broke the window of a marked patrol vehicle and began to fight officers as he was removed from the back seat. No officers were injured.
Scappaticci was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center on multiple charges. We’re still awaiting a mugshot.
