Colorado Springs artist needs help locating work sold to consignment store

A Colorado Springs artist needs the public’s help finding her own artwork which was taken to a consignment store and sold to a customer without her permission.

Rita Carswell reached out to KRDO news on Wednesday with the request. Rita says her painting of “Wine Cellar” was taken to Consignment Gallery last January or February after allowing a realtor to use to as a staging prop.

When the realtor sold the house without Rita’s acknowledgment, the new homeowner’s did not realize it was a staging prop and sold it to Consignment Gallery.

We have attached a picture of the painting below.

After speaking to the consignment store’s owner, Rita has reason to believe the painting is still in the Colorado Springs area. If you have any information about it, you can contact Rita at 719-244-3860 or on Facebook.
