2 arrested for hash oil production after fire in Pueblo County

A mobile home caught fire east of Pueblo Tuesday afternoon and deputies found remnants of an illegal hash oil production operation.

The fire happened in the 100 block of 32 3/4 Lane ( MAP ), and deputies were told there were people inside, according to a news release sent Wednesday. The deputies told the residents to leave but found butane gas canisters and suspected marijuana concentrates inside.

The fire started in a barrel and spread to the grass and nearby mobile home, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters found more butane gas canisters in the yard, including one cut in half and filled with marijuana, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office. That’s when investigators were called to look into the possibility of a hash oil production.

A resident inside the house told deputies the canister belonged to a guest and his girlfriend. The resident said the pair tried to extract concentrates from marijuana but weren’t successful.

Deputies arrested the two, identified as 49-year-old Corey L. Jones and 41-year-old Amy Runnels, for extraction of marijuana using a hazardous concentrate.
