Colorado Springs consignment stores offer great alternatives for Halloween costume ideas

With Halloween right around the corner, KRDO news took a trip to a few local consignment stores, to find some good last minute ideas for costumes.

If you aren’t familiar, these stores do not only offer great deals to customers, but they also provide all sorts of gently used clothing options to add to your closet. So, if you aren’t able to find the actual costume you’re looking for, you can always MAKE one by putting different pieces together.

For instance, one of the more fun costumes we were able to throw together, was a women’s vampire suit. When we arrived at our first stop, Seven Status, we found all sorts of costumes, from a scarecrow to a Hunger Games battle suit, the quaint consignment store had quite the selection.

What they didn’t have (at the time), however, was a full vampire suit. They had the cape, just nothing else, but that’s okay! We made something better.

With the help of a few staff members, we CREATED our own lady’s vampire suit. Staff members say that’s the fun part of using a consignment store as your go-to Halloween shop.

Not only does Seven Status offer customers a chance to get creative with their outfits, but when you purchase items from them, a portion of your proceeds goes to raising awareness for women and children who fall a victim to human trafficking.

Our second stop during our last minute Halloween costume mission was Plato’s Closet in Colorado Springs. Like our first stop, this store also had tons of gently worn Halloween ideas for both men and women.

If you aren’t familiar with Plato’s Closet, the consignment store focuses more on women but offers a little of everything. This includes tons of name brand clothing, accessories, and footwear.
