Las Animas student injured in minor bus crash in Bent County

A school bus carrying six children from the Las Animas School District was involved in a minor crash Monday morning and one student had to be taken to the hospital.

Colorado State Patrol is investigating after the bus went off the road while driving north on Bent Count Road 7.5. The bus then got stuck in some soft dirt on the shoulder of the road and had to be towed.

One student was injured, according to CSP, but the extent of their injuries wasn’t known. The student was taken to a local hospital in a private car.

CSP said excessive speed, alcohol, or drugs aren’t factors in the crash. It’s not clear if the driver is facing a citation.
