Previous Story:
One man was shot and killed late Sunday night east of Colorado Springs, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says it’s investigating as a homicide.
When deputies arrived in the 6400 block of Tranters Creek Way, they found a man unconscious laying in the street. First responders tried to revive the victim, but he succumbed to his injuries.
One neighbor said she heard the gunshots.
“He was like mom, mom! What was that? That’s gunshots! And then we looked up in the window outside and we didn’t see anything it was so quiet and then literally two minutes after that there was a lot of cop cars,” said Len Palis a nearby neighbor.
Palis lives about four houses down from where the shooting happened late last night.
“It was scary. I was shaking the entire time when I saw the people. I was praying in my head that nobody died,” Palis said.
The streets between Old Glory Drive and Tranters Creek were blocked off as investigators took pictures and searched the scene.
“We will finish processing the scene. The coroner will finish the autopsy and then we will see where we are with that and what information we can release,” said Jacqueline Kirby with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Kirby asks that if anyone in the area has any information or surveillance video to please provide that to investigators.
