Some Colorado ‘Blue Books’ not delivered, but we’ve got the info

Election Day is less than a month away, but outside of the governor’s race, do you know about every one of the initiatives on the ballot? Probably not, which is why Colorado sends out “blue books” that highlight ballot measures and the judges up for retention.

But this year, there was an issue with deliveries to residents who collect their mail from a Post Office box. The printer defaulted to mailing the books to physical addresses instead, and those with P.O. boxes didn’t end up getting their blue books.

The books are handled by the Colorado Legislature’s nonpartisan Legislative Council, according to a news release sent by the Secretary of State’s Office, but a link is also available to view the blue book online.

In the book are descriptions of the 13 statewide ballot measures, along with the pros and cons for each and their fiscal impacts. The book also talks about state judges up for retention, and whether or not they met performance standards. We reported in August when an El Paso County judge made the short list of judges who didn’t meet performance standards.
