Multiple crews battling large trash fire in Pueblo

Multiple fire agencies are responding to a large trash fire burning at C&C Disposal on Quartz Road.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says the fire is producing a lot of smoke in the area.

The fire is not threatening any structures and is expected to burn for much of the day Saturday.

The fire was first reported at about 4 a.m. by a passerby. Flames were reported as high as 44 feet at times.

The fire spread to a nearby metal building that houses the recycling center and is reportedly a half acre in size at this time.

Anyone with respiratory issues is advised to avoid the area. Nearby residents are asked to keep windows and doors closed due to the heavy smoke.

We have a crew on the way to the scene. This is a developing story, stay with KRDO for updates.
