3 bears climb tall tree in Colorado Springs neighborhood
Three bears climbed a tree in the front yard of a northwest Colorado Springs home Friday and they decided to settle in.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife had to be called to the Rockrimmon neighborhood to take care of the pack at the top of the big tree.
The mama and her two cubs didn’t scare when wildlife officers first shot and missed with a tranquilizer dart. When the officers made contact, it quickly became obvious that getting them down would be no easy task.
Eventually, they tumbled out of the trees, one by one.
Even though no humans or bears were hurt today, CPW wants to remind everyone these are wild animals.
“Bears are in hyperphagia and they are getting ready to hibernate and trying to pack on the pounds, so they are seeking for as much food as they can get,” said Travis Duncan with Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Though, it’s not really clear what kind of food they were hoping to get at the top of that tree.
Once the bears were tranquilized, they were immediately loaded up and transported to a location near the New Mexico border, where they will be released.
