Weather alert day: big drop in temperatures – 10/4/18

TODAY: A shallow layer of cool air is in place for the morning hours today. This air came in behind a cold front which also allowed for east winds. This means you’ll be waking up to not only jacket weather, but low clouds and fog. You’ll notice some drizzle this morning before we clear out for your lunch hour. Later today, we could see a few more isolated showers and storms around Teller County and the Palmer Divide. Highs today will be in the 50s to low 60s. Places out east should end up cooler thanks to slower clearing.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear tonight with lows in the 30s to low 40s.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow looks sunny, but another front will be moving in for the evening. This will bring a few showers and storms after a day of sunshine and warmer highs. More cool air and rain is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s, with both weekend overnights bringing the chance for a mix of rain and snow over local mountain cities. There is a better chance for that rain snow mix on Monday morning. The foothills of El Paso County and the Palmer Divide could even get in on the action, thanks to things staying chilly.
