Woman rescued from Lake Minnequa identified

Pueblo police have identified the woman rescued from Lake Minnequa Sunday morning.

Officers say when they first got to the scene around 12:30 a.m., they heard Alicia Espinoza, 33, screaming for help.

She had become lost due to the vegetation in the lake. Police on the scene told KRDO that some of the weeds in the lake were 10 feet tall.

Officers eventually called in the fire department because they were better equipped for the rescue.

Crews found Espinoza about an hour and a half later.

She was taken to the hospital as a precaution for hypothermia.
