Colorado Springs officer injured after running into light pole to avoid crash

A Colorado Springs police officer was responding to a call to assist another officer when a truck unexpectedly turned left, causing the officer to crash into a light pole early Monday morning.

The CSPD officer was traveling south on Union Blvd. approaching Platte Ave. when a maroon Dodge pickup truck turned left in front of the officer. The officer swerved to avoid a collision with other vehicles and ran off the roadway. The car struck the curb, went up on the sidewalk and struck a light pole. The officer sustained minor injuries.

The citizen’s vehicle was not struck and the citizen was uninjured. The citizen was served and released on a summons for traffic offenses.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
