Springs police thankful for birthday cards to Cem Duzel
Officer Cem Duzel is still recovering after being shot in the head in early August and even had to spend his birthday in the hospital, but the Colorado Springs Police Department shared a post of thanks for the birthday cards that were sent to the wounded patrolman.
Duzel was shot in the head Aug. 2 while responding to a call for shots fired near Platte Ave. One suspect, Karrar Al Khamassi is facing multiple charges for the shooting.
The department shared the updated picture of Duzel Friday and said his family was thankful for the continued support. CSPD also said the department, Duzel, and his family were grateful for the “unbelievable number” of birthday cards and gifts sent to Cem.
The department hasn’t said when Duzel’s birthday was, but we know he turned 31 recently.
Duzel was at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs before being moved to Craig Hospital in Englewood on Aug. 28.
