Man leads Colorado Springs police on chase after hit-and-run accidents
The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a hit-and-run which involved multiple vehicles, including police cars, around 8 a.m. Thursday.
Officers first tried making contact with the suspect near the Beulah, Palmer Park area after being wanted for prior robberies. Friday, the suspect was identified as 30-year-old David Adkins.
Adkins then tried running from police, ramming two police cars before driving through a retaining wall at a nearby carwash.
Police say Adkins allegedly struck many other vehicles as well, however, that number has not been released at this time. He was also reported by witnesses for several reports of reckless driving.
Adkins continued driving southbound in northbound lanes of Academy Blvd. He then made it to the Garden of the Gods area and struck another vehicle there.
The chase ended at another hit-and-run near Constitution and Circle, where he attempted to flee from the vehicle. Officers and a Police K9 were then able to contain the area and chase the man on foot.
