Extended 90 day forecast

October is just a few days away, and our StormTracker 13 weather team has now updated its 90 day forecast (October to December).

Attached are maps of what the Climate Prediction Center has issued regarding the next three months. Depicted in the orange colors, we have chances for above-average temperatures the next 90 days or so. You can see that this is the case across much of the country. Temperatures above-the-norm are common when tracking an El Niño pattern which is expected to develop in the next few months.

Now, let’s analyze what to expect in terms of precipitation. Here in this article, there’s a map as well that forecasts precipitation October through December. Across the southern states in the green, that’s where we have the potential of above-average precipitation the next three months. That’s also a typical trend during an El Niño cycle.

Remember: just because we could see relatively warm and wet weather this fall doesn’t mean that this will be the constant pattern on a daily or even weekly basis. This forecast is simply saying that these are the possible trends the next few months — generally.

Our weather team is excited to track the latest for you to see how this extended forecast pans out.
