Warm weekend and cooler thereafter – 09/22/18

Tonight: We’ve had warm, sunny and pleasant weather today! Wasn’t it just gorgeous getting outside? Overnight, temperatures drop to the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies. Most stay dry today. By the way, happy fall equinox! Autumn starts at 7:54 p.m. today. Essentially, this is when the Earth’s equator aligns to the same plane as the center of the Sun, and both northern and southern hemispheres get (closer to) equal amounts of day and night.

Tomorrow: We’ll essentially have a repeat of today’s weather tomorrow (Sunday) in the area. Temperatures will be running more than ten degrees above average. While Colorado Springs could come close to beating or exceeding the record for a high, I expect Pueblo to fall shy of that mark. We’ll have lots of sunshine with slightly elevated fire danger.

Extended: For those who are ready for more autumnal weather, you’ll get your wish next week! Temperatures will be dropping below-average between Tuesday and Thursday. A few cold fronts will cool us down. Isolated showers and storms are a possibility Monday and Tuesday (and potentially Wednesday – time will tell), but I’m not expecting storms to become severe at this point. By Wednesday, it’s possible that Pikes Peak could get a light dusting of snow! Gosh, I love this time of year. Then, into next Friday through Sunday, temperatures warm up and we’ll deal with tons of sunshine.
