Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Warmer – 9/22/18
Today: The air will feel a bit cool this morning, be expect a warmer afternoon with less wind and high temperatures in the 70s and 80s for the plains, 60s and 70s over the mountains.
Tonight: The sky will remain clear and by morning the air will cool into the 50s for the plains, mainly 40s for our local mountain areas.
Extended: Sunday is officially the first full day of fall, but we expect to be warmer again with high temperatures in the 80s and 90s for the plains, mainly 70s over our local mountain communities. We are tracking several surges of cooler air that will keep much of next week cooler. The first surge of cooler air will arrive on Monday with temperatures cooling slightly into the 70s and 80s for the plains, mainly 60s to lower 70s for our local mountain communities. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop over and near the mountains Monday afternoon, but we do expect precipitation to be quite spotty across the area. A second surge of cool air will drop temperatures further on Tuesday with most communities on the plains cooling into the 60s and our mountain areas falling in to the 50s. We might notice some low clouds over the Palmer Divide or parts of the eastern plains Tuesday morning, and a few showers will be possible at times during the day on Tuesday, but again we’re not looking for any widespread, heavy precipitation. Areas of low cloud cover and/or patchy fog are possible over the plains Wednesday morning, but the afternoon should be partly cloudy and a little warmer with high temperatures back into the 70s for the plains, 60s over the mountains. Another weak cold front should cool the air a bit on Thursday and possibly cause some low clouds to develop over the plains again Thursday night. Friday may start cool, but the afternoon looks to warm significantly, and the warming trend should continue into Saturday.
