Bear Creek Dog Park is re-open after being closed due to a bear spotting

Update: Bear Creek Dog Park reopened Friday a little after 10 a.m.

A momma bear and her cub were spotted in a tree near Bear Creek Dog Park Thursday afternoon.

El Paso County said crews were monitoring the situation. Crews said the momma bear started to get a little agitated and so they decided to leave her alone for the evening.

The County closed the park Thursday evening and revisited the area Friday morning.

Crews report the bears had moved Thursday night, but are waiting to reopen the park until they make sure the bears are out of the area.

The park is expected to reopen Friday afternoon.
