Authorities confirm double shooting in Colorado Springs is murder, suicide

Police responded to a house in the 1600 block of Howard Avenue for a shots fired call Sunday morning.

Upon arrival, police located two adult males with gunshot wounds inside the residence.

After further investigation, it was discovered that 68-year-old Frank Dillard shot and killed 33-year-old Sheldon King, before turning the gun on himself.

Dillard was transported to the hospital with critical injures and later died two days later due to the self-inflicted gunshot wound.

King’s death is the 24th homicide investigated by CSPD in 2018. The City of Colorado Springs had 21 homicides at this time last year.

Besides both being residents of Colorado Springs, the relationship between the two men is unclear.
