El Paso Sheriff’s Office responds to barricaded suspect, suspect surrenders

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office took a barricaded suspect on 2300 block of Klein Place around 2:48 p.m. Monday.

When deputies arrived, they found 31-year-old Amy Weeks inside the home. Authorities along with a K9 team had attempted to contact Weeks for several different warrants, including a domestic incident which involved the unlawful discharge of a firearm. The charged also listed her as “Armed and Dangerous”.

Deputies say the victim of the domestic case was on the scene after they arrived and Weeks was said to be the only person inside the home. She was said to have tried to flee the home through a side door, but barricaded herself from deputies instead.

When multiple attempts to get Weeks to surrender were unsuccessful, authorities called in the S.W.A.T team as a precaution.

As of 7 p.m. Monday, we’re told the suspect surrendered to authorities. She was transported to the Criminal Justice Center Jail where she faces outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrant charges.
