Tracking the heat – 09/14/18

Tonight: After a sizzling afternoon, I’m expecting temperatures to drop to the 50s and 60s under clear skies. Today, Colorado Springs broke a record for temperatures – reaching 90 degrees, beating the previous record at 89 set in 2015. Pueblo tied the high record today, boosting to 97 degrees! It should be milder if you’re stepping outdoors later this evening as we cool off, but perhaps consider the light jacket or sweater once the sun sets! Weather should be quiet.

Tomorrow: Are you ready for another few days of hot temperatures? Highs in the days to come, however, won’t be quite as close to breaking any records like what we’ve seen this week. Saturday, it will be lovely to get outside! (As long as you don’t mind the heat). Highs will be climbing to the 80s and 90s. Sunshine will be abundant.

Extended: Temperatures stay warm and well above-average into next Tuesday. Thereafter, changes are possible. Cooler air will be pushing into southern Colorado by next Thursday and Friday. Not only will this incoming storm system drop temperatures back to seasonal or below-seasonal numbers, it could spark a few isolated showers and storms, too.
