Man fights officers, gets arrested at Colorado Springs store

Colorado Springs police say a 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after fighting officers when they found him picking up items that were ordered with a stolen credit card.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. at the Auto Zone on S. 8th Street; a police report says officers were called when Kenneth Charles Boyd tried to pick up the items. The officers spoke with Boyd and found out he had felony warrants for his arrest.

Police tried to handcuff Boyd, and that’s when he “bolted out the front door,” according to the report.

But he didn’t get far before tripping and falling to the ground, which let the officers catch up to him. When they again tried to restrain him, he “actively fought with them” and tried multiple times to pull the officers to the ground.

The report says officers were able to get Boyd handcuffed with the help of a nearby citizen. He was taken to jail for two counts of second-degree assault on an officer and resisting arrest. Police haven’t given information on his felony warrants.

The two officers were treated and released from the hospital.
