Colorado Springs woman claims to be bitten by dog, needs help identifying owners

A Colorado Springs woman is asking for the public’s help in identifying two dog owners after she claims to have been bitten by a dog in North Cheyenne Cañon Park.

Janet Miller said she and her husband were biking on Chamberlin Trail Friday afternoon when she said they stopped to let a couple and their dogs go by.

Miller said the dogs were leashed, but one became out of control.

“The dog jerked off the leash and just chewed the whole side of my leg there,” Miller said.

Now, Miller said she’s left with three wounds on her leg. Photos taken after the blood was cleaned up show her injuries. “Nobody could have ever expected it, nobody could have ever prepared for it. It was over in a blink of one eye, Miller said.

Miller said the owners didn’t stick around, so she doesn’t know if the dog that bit her was vaccinated for rabies. She said both rabies and infection are her doctor’s top concerns.

“There’s absolutely no living through rabies so it’s pretty scary,” Miller said.

Miller describes the owners as a roughly 6’2″ tall man, with a thin build and brown-gray hair in a ponytail. She said he was with roughly 5’6″ dark-haired woman. She describes the dogs as white or off-white in color, Doodle type dogs. Both about 40-50 pounds.

She’s asking anyone that might know who they are to email krdonews@krdo.com

Animal Law Enforcement told KRDO NewsChannel 13 when a case like this is reported, they will increase patrols in the area to try and find the people responsible.
