Colorado Springs woman dies after walking onto I-25 exit ramp

A 41-year-old female from Colorado Springs died early Friday morning after getting hit by a tractor on an interstate exit ramp.

Colorado State Patrol reports, Megan Sweet was walking across an I-25 exit ramp at mile marker 161 and walked in front of approaching traffic.

The driver was operating a Kentwoth tractor that was pulling a trailer northbound on the exit ramp and couldn’t stop in time and collided with Sweet.

The female suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

After further investigation, it was determined that the driver was not at fault.

At this time it is unknown if alcohol and drugs were a factor in the crash for the pedestrian. The crash remains under investigation.
