Nam & Eggs – Rob’s prediction for the 2018 Denver Broncos

It’s time for another serving of Nam & Eggs. It’s time for me to predict the Denver Broncos record for the upcoming season. Now, to be completely transparent last year, I predicted the Broncos would go 10-6 and they proceeded to win five games. If you want to know why teams make drastic turnarounds in the NFL each and every year it’s because of scheduling. The Broncos have the 5th easiest schedule in the NFL this year.

Ladies and gentlemen when it come to the Broncos schedule, like Frank the Tank, we’re going streaking, running right through the quads. They are going to be streaky. The way I see it, the Broncos will come out of the gates winning four out of their first five games. The middle portion of their schedule are against playoff caliber teams and they will struggle. The last part of their schedule are game that are winnable.

They’ll win at least three more games this season because of Case Keenum. Remember he was a win away from playing in the Super Bowl last year. I think the player who will benefit the most from Keenum will be Emmanuel Sanders. I think he’ll have a Pro Bowl season because of the chemistry between Sanders and Keenum. He’ll also be Keenum’s security blanket.

In order for the Broncos to emerge as a top tier offense, a tight end needs to emerge as a threat. One of the Broncos question marks is at tight end. Is Jeff Heuerman finally going to be healthy and productive? Will Jake Butt be a pain the rear to opposing defenses? If you look at the top teams in the NFL in recent times, they all have a reliable target at tight end. Also, I think their offensive line will be dramatically better but I’m not sold on their rushing attack. I don’t think Devonte Booker is dynamic enough and even though I like Royce Freeman, their starting tailback, I don’t trust a rookie to be “The Guys’.

I think the Broncos defense will be a top five defense once again, although I think they will be better against the run but they won’t be the “No Fly Zone” of year past.

Alright, it’s prediction time. I believe the Broncos will finish the season 9-7 and will make the playoffs. I think the Chiefs will win the AFC West. My Super Bowl prediction. The Vikings versus the Patriots. I know, I make myself sick just saying that. There you have it.
