Construction begins for I-25 Gap Project
Construction began on the I-25 South Gap Project Tuesday.
Construction took place on the northern portion of the project near Castle Rock, between Plum Creek Parkway and Skyview Lane at the Tomah Road Interchange.
Construction is scheduled for 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. Traffic will be shifted to the far outside shoulders after a barrier is in place.
CDOT held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday. Governor John Hickenlooper, the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol, local officials and the construction team were at the ceremony celebrating the long-awaited project.
The project will add one toll lane in each direction of Interstate 25 between Monument and Castle Rock, drivers can get around the toll fee by having three or more passengers in the car. The project is expected to cost $350 million.
Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2021 or early 2022.
