The Colorado Springs Police Department announced Thursday the officer who was shot in the head while on duty on August 2 is making progress inside Craig Hospital in Denver.

The police department posted information regarding his progress to their Facebook page.

They say Duzel is getting settled in and at his family’s request, is not accepting visitors outside family at this time.

Duzel’s family has continued to be lifted by the community’s heartfelt messages and support. Hundreds of people have come in and out of the hospital.

You may recall Tuesday, Officer Cem Duzel was surrounded by more than 150 fellow men and women of blue as he was escorted by ambulance from UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central to Craig Hospital in Englewood between 10:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. (PHOTOS)

According to UCHealth, several of their health professionals and caregivers also joined officers in lining the hallways of Memorial as Officer Duzel’s wheelchair passed by.

Duzel was apparently very emotional throughout the entire process, adding he even wiped a few tears from his eyes in response to all the support, UCHealth reported.
