Officers were called to the UCCS Family Development Center in the 1400 block of Austin Bluffs Parkway on reports of shots being fired. A teenage male had been shot and his friends took him to the hospital where he later died from his injury.

The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Violent Crimes Section has ruled the death as suspicious and will continue to investigate the incident.

CSPD reports all subjects are accounted for and said the UCCS campus remains safe.

The Family Development Center closed for all day Thursday for detectives to process the crime scene. All other UCCS offices and buildings operated on a normal schedule.
