Police identify man killed in shooting near Memorial Park
The Colorado Springs Police Department has identified 30-year-old Terrell Cortez Madrid Duran of Colorado Springs as the man who was shot Monday night in the 1300 block of East Las Animas Street.
Colorado Springs police officers responded to the shooting around 8:45 p.m. Police have confirmed five shell casings were found near the location and Duran was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
KMGH in Denver reports, that Duran was convicted in 2007 of sex assault on a child and was wanted by Colorado law enforcement for failing to register as a sex offender.
Police do not have any details about possible suspects and have not released any other information at this time.
Duran’s death is the 20th homicide investigated by CSPD in 2018. The City of Colorado Springs had 20 homicides at this time last year.
